Rep. Green Welcomes Rep. Williams as Co-Chair of the Congressional Colorectal Cancer
WASHINGTON—Today, Rep. Mark Green, M.D., announced Rep. Nikema Williams (GA-05) as co-chair of the Congressional Colorectal Cancer Caucus.
Rep. Green said, “I am thrilled to announce that Rep. Williams will serve as co-chair of the Congressional Colorectal Cancer Caucus. Rep. Williams is a fierce advocate for those fighting this pervasive form of cancer. Like many advocates, Rep. Williams served as her mother’s caretaker during her hard-fought battle with colorectal cancer. As a colorectal and thyroid cancer survivor, I understand what many are going through as they battle this disease, and I am confident of Rep. Williams’ commitment to joining me as an advocate on their behalf in Congress.
We will also continue to honor the memory of Rep. Donald Payne Jr. (NJ-10), who served with me as co-chair of this caucus before his passing. Rep. Payne’s legacy of fighting for colorectal cancer patients left an indelible mark on me, this caucus, and thousands of people affected by this disease.
I look forward to working alongside Rep. Williams as we promote awareness of this life-altering diagnosis.”
