WASHINGTON -- Rep. Mark Green (R-TN), member of the House Homeland Security Committee, released the following statement reacting to reports that both the Senate and House are working on bills simultaneously to bring humanitarian relief to the ongoing border crisis.

"Whatever Congress passes must include a permanent solution to the border crisis. We must fix our legal loopholes. Via the president's emergency declaration, we are getting the physical wall built. But we need to build a legal wall by fixing the loopholes," said Rep. Mark Green.

Rep. Mark Green served in the U.S. military for 24 years and is a veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan. He was on the mission to capture Saddam Hussein and interrogated the late dictator for 6 hours.
