Rep. Green Votes Against Motion to Vacate
WASHINGTON—Today, Rep. Mark Green released the following statement after voting against the motion to vacate offered by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL):
Green said, “The American people fired Speaker Pelosi and elected new leadership in November 2022. And this new House Republican Majority has led by passing some of the most conservative bills in generations. We passed H.R. 5, the Parents Bill of Rights Act, to defend every parent’s right to make decisions about their child’s education. We passed H.R. 2, the strongest border security bill to ever pass the House. And we’ve passed bills to gut the bureaucracy, give our troops raises, and defund Biden’s radical woke agenda. We’ve also conducted robust oversight and launched thorough investigations to hold the Biden administration accountable, from the probes of Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas to the impeachment inquiry of President Biden.”
Green continued: “Conservatives have never been more empowered on Capitol Hill than under Speaker McCarthy. By vacating the position of Speaker of the House, all that progress comes to a halt. That’s why I voted against the motion to vacate. Our nation is experiencing severe decline under President Biden. Record deficits, record debt, rampant inflation, and a vacuum of presidential leadership leaves America extremely vulnerable. President Reagan once said that the person who agrees with you 80% of the time is a friend and an ally, not a 20% traitor. We must focus our attention on holding President Biden accountable, not fighting each other.”
