Rep. Green Fights for Parents with Vote on Parents Bill of Rights

WASHINGTON—Today, Rep. Mark Green released the following statement following his vote in favor of H.R. 5, the Parents Bill of Rights Act:

“American families have had enough of woke school boards, school administrators, and Washington bureaucrats pushing them out of their children’s education. What world do we live in where a parent can be silenced in school board meetings, intimidated by school administrators, stonewalled for asking about curriculum, and above all, investigated by the FBI? We are at crisis levels in this country. It’s time for schools to implement transparency and accountability measures. Parents deserve to know what their kids are learning, what material they have access to in school libraries, and how schools are spending their money. For Tennesseans and Americans alike, I was proud to vote YES on the Parents Bill of Rights today.

“I was also proud my amendment to the Parents Bill of Rights passed. My amendment ensures that parents are informed when their children’s personal information has been compromised so that they can take the necessary steps to protect them. We must do everything possible to protect our nation’s critical infrastructure and cybersecurity. Cyberattacks targeting K-12 schools threaten the future of our kids. Post-COVID, our teachers are still working to combat learning loss. Cyberattacks that result in learning down-time are a major risk that we must address. My amendment is a critical first step."
