ICYMI: Rep. Green Intros Bill to Strengthen “Community of Freedom” on Anniversary of NATO

We stood up to the Evil Empire once. Now it is time for NATO to reunite against the greatest threat to the world since the Soviet Union—the Chinese Communist Party. That’s why Rep. Green introduced the General Thaddeus Kosciuszko Memorial Exchange Program For Polish-American Defense Cooperation Act.

General Thaddeus Kosciuszko didn’t just help the U.S. win the American Revolution, he also stood up to tyranny in his homeland of Poland. In the spirit of his dedication to freedom and equality, Rep. Green introduced this legislation to strengthen military cooperation between the U.S. and Poland, ensuring that our NATO alliance is stronger than ever.

Strengthening alliances with nations who share our values of freedom and equality proves to Putin and Xi that NATO is still a force to be reckoned with.

On the 74th anniversary of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Rep. Mark Green (R-Tenn.) has introduced legislation that would strengthen military ties between the U.S. and Poland — highlighting its importance amidst the rising power of China and Russia.

“NATO is more important now than any time since the fall of the Soviet Union. The growing alliance between Russia and China is a threat to our rules-based international order. That’s why I introduced the General Thaddeus Kosciuszko Memorial Exchange Program for Polish-American Defense Cooperation Act. Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin are strengthening their alliances, it’s about time we re-introduce them to the alliance that took down the Soviet Union.” -Rep. Mark Green

Green, who is also a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, introduced the Gen. Thaddeus Kosciuszko Memorial Exchange Program For Polish-American Defense Cooperation Act, which honors Kosciuszko, a Polish soldier who helped the United States during the American Revolution. The legislation focuses on strengthening ties between NATO allies, particularly between the U.S. and Poland.

“We need another ‘tear down this wall’ moment. Despite the fall of the Soviet Union, one thing is clear, tyranny still remains," Green said in a statement to the Washington Examiner. "We see evidence of this in Xi Jinping’s treatment of China’s minority populations and Putin’s regime of terror and war of aggression against Ukraine. Though these two despotic powers are forming a partnership, we have something greater: the ‘community of freedom’ that was founded 74 years ago, and has only grown since."

The legislation proposes creating a training program between the U.S. and special operations forces in the Polish army, which would enhance the readiness and defensive capabilities of both countries.

Green hopes that the bill will demonstrate to adversaries that NATO is not a thing of the past and that the strongest countries in the world stand united against tyranny in all its forms...

Green said he believes this legislation will further honor and strengthen the long-standing friendship and bond between the United States and Poland:

“The United States and Poland share a history dating back to our founding. My bill honors the memory of our Revolutionary hero and the face of Polish resistance against oppression,” Green said in a statement to The Epoch Times.

“When the United States and our allies stand together, there’s nothing we can’t accomplish. It’s time to show the Chinese Communist Party that NATO will never back down to communist regimes.”
