Rep. Green Announces Details of Service Academy Day

Clarksville, Tenn.—Today, Rep. Mark Green, West Point Class of 1986, announced details for his sixth annual Service Academy Day. The event will take place at Franklin High School on Saturday, August 3rd from 10:30 am - 1:30 pm. Doors open at 10:00 am. Representatives of the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy will be in attendance.

Rep. Green said, “I look forward to hosting the Service Academy Day each year. Meeting young Tennesseans who feel called to serve their country is incredibly rewarding. Service academies teach students how to lead with excellence, how to act with courage, and how to serve with honor. Students who choose this route will be entrusted with a great weight of responsibility—our future national defense.”

Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, NY. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.

To request a service academy nomination, applicants need to complete the request form, linked here. Once the form is complete, the applicant will receive the application. All application materials are due Friday, November 1st at 5:00 PM CST.
