Chairman Green Praises the House Passage of Homeland Security Legislation
WASHINGTON, D.C. — House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green, MD (R-TN) released the following statement applauding the passage of key pieces of legislation by the House of Representatives this week, which were either reported out of the Committee or first introduced by Committee members.
“I commend my colleagues in the House for passing legislation that ensures homeland security is a top priority this Congress,” Chairman Green said.“I am proud of my fellow Homeland Security Committee Members, Reps. Guest, Strong, Luttrell, and Brecheen, for leading legislation that will not only improve DHS’s effectiveness in safeguarding the American people from deadly drugs, such as fentanyl, but will also improve U.S. biosecurity, provide accountability for taxpayer dollars spent on contracted services at the Southwest Border, and greatly improve the lives of everyday Americans as they travel to and from the United States.”
The following homeland security legislation was passed by the House of Representatives:
- S. 206, The “Eradicating Narcotic Drugs and Formulating Effective New Tools to Address National Yearly Losses of life Act ” or the END FENTANYL Act, introduced by Senator Rick Scott (R-FL), House companion legislation introduced by Vice Chairman Michael Guest (R-MS).
- H.R. 6174, The “DHS Biodetection Improvement Act,” introduced by Rep. Dale Strong (R-AL).
- H.R. 5969,The “Improving Travel for Families Act,” introduced by Rep. Morgan Luttrell (R-TX).
- H.R. 4467, The “DHS Border Services Contracts Review Act,” introduced by Rep. Josh Brecheen (R-OK).
