Rep. Green said, “I’m proud to introduce a Congressional Resolution recognizing the vital contribution of pharmacists to the health and wellbeing of patients. Pharmacists' unwavering role in patient care is essential. From enhancing healthcare accessibility to ensuring optimal medication therapy outcomes, pharmacists play a crucial role in our communities. Our Congressional Resolution recognizes October as National Pharmacists Month to honor the more than 300,000 licensed pharmacists who care for America.”

Rep. Carter said, “Pharmacists are among the most accessible health care professionals in America, delivering medications, treatments, and prevention services to communities nationwide. The role we play is vital, as many patients look to their pharmacist for education about their health, safe medication use, and more. Designating October 2024 as American Pharmacists Month is an important way to show appreciation for the health care professionals who work hard every single day to keep our nation healthy.”

Rep. Harshbarger said, “As a pharmacist myself for over 30 years, it is my privilege to honor our nation’s hard-working pharmacists during the month of October. Their dedication to improving patient outcomes and ensuring access to quality healthcare is a tremendous blessing to communities everywhere. With patients visiting their community pharmacist twice as frequently as they visit primary care physicians, the trusted and critical role pharmacists play in helping patients overcome illness and live healthier lives cannot be overstated."

Anthony Pudlo, Pharm.D., CEO of the Tennessee Pharmacists Association said, “October is a time to celebrate pharmacists and the entire pharmacy team, who provide care across the health care system— from hospitals and community pharmacies to long-term care facilities and beyond. Pharmacists do far more than most expect—they are patient advocates, accessible health care providers, champions of safe medication use, and innovators in our evolving health care system. I am deeply grateful to every pharmacist, pharmacy technician, and student of the profession for their unwavering contributions and the value they bring to patients daily. I also express my gratitude to Representatives Green, Harshbarger, and Carter for recognizing pharmacists and their vital roles.'

The American Pharmacists Association said, “The American Pharmacists Association commends the leadership of Reps. Mark Green (TN-7), Buddy Carter (GA-1) and Diana Harshbarger (TN-1) for introducing a congressional resolution recognizing October 2024 as ‘‘American Pharmacists Month,’’ in honor of our nation’s pharmacists who provide safe, accessible, and affordable preventive health care services in rural and underserved areas where pharmacists are often the only health care providers. These congressional leaders know, first-hand, the positive impact that trusted community pharmacists have on improving patients’ access to care in their local communities. We hope all Members of Congress will join them in cosponsoring this resolution to recognize the vital contributions of pharmacists in every State.”
