WASHINGTON – This week, Reps. Mark Green (R-TN) and Mark Walker (R-NC) will introduce a resolution condemning Antifa violence and recognizing that it engages in domestic terrorism.

“America should reject all forms of political violence, whether it comes from the right or the left.” said Rep. Mark Green. “For too long Antifa has evaded justice. This brutal organization is a threat to the First Amendment and every value that America stands for. Any political movement that engages in terrorism should not be tolerated by the United States.”

“Antifa’s violence, intolerance and hatred seems to know no bounds as they use barbarity and intimidation against political opponents, directing attacks without equivocation at our First Amendment.” said Rep. Mark Walker. “Their oppressive and dangerous attacks on journalists and law enforcement officers must be curtailed. We encourage the President and his Administration to recognize Antifa’s threat and protect the American people and our institutions from their tyranny.”

Antifa is a radical far-left movement that regularly attacks journalists and advocates for the violent overthrow of the Government of the United States. This past month, conservative journalist Andy Ngo was assaulted by Antifa during a protest in Portland, where he was hit on the back of the head, punched, and kicked by about a dozen members who sent him to the hospital with a brain hemorrhage. Andy Ngo had been attacked before by Antifa members due to his critical coverage of them.

Also in July, an Antifa member armed with a rifle threw incendiary devices at an ICE facility in Washington State. In his final statement, he encouraged other Antifa members to arm themselves and ignore the law in preparing for “the revolution”.
