WASHINGTON—This week, House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green, MD (R-TN) joined Fox Business’ “Mornings with Maria” and SiriusXM’s “The David Webb Show” to discuss the Trump administration’s success in securing our borders, the lingering effects of the Biden-Harris administration’s historic border crisis, and the “Cyber PIVOTT Act,” which will resolve America’s cybersecurity workforce shortage. On the dramatic drop in Southwest border apprehensions under the Trump administration in March, Chairman Green said:

“We’ve finally secured our southern border, and President Trump did what he promised during the campaign…It’s all about delivering on his promises and securing our nation. I mean, 7,000 [Southwest border apprehensions]––that’s pretty impressive. And what I really like to tell the Democrats, you know, they talked about this ‘global migration crisis’ that was thrust onto Biden and Mayorkas. Look, they created this crisis by flinging open the doors. And they just proved the theory, the pull theory about immigration––our president proved that was manmade by those two individuals, so this is great. It’s a great step forward for our country.”

On the influx of Chinese nationals who illegally crossed the border under the Biden-Harris administration and the potential national security threats they pose, Chairman Green said:

“This is a massive national security problem, and you have to imagine because these individuals, a lot of them, the vast majority are military aged men, many with prior service in the Chinese Communist Party and private service in the People’s Liberation Army. And they just let them into the country.”

On his request for answers on the Biden-Harris administration’s mass-parole schemes, Chairman Green said:

“The goal here is to shine a light on what’s happened. I led the first impeachment of the sitting cabinet secretary [in the last Congress], and that’s not enough because the Senate wouldn’t do its job. We still need to bring these people to justice and that’s finding out how they broke our laws, and these programs where they flew hundreds of thousands of people from Venezuela and other countries into the country and just released them. That’s not asylum, it breaks our laws and we’re going to hold people accountable.”

On the efforts of rogue judges to halt the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement efforts, Chairman Green said:

“This nationwide injunction issue is absolutely unconstitutional––and we’re going to make an issue out of that. I was with Chairman Jim Jordan, who has the Judiciary Committee, he’s got a…plan to take that issue on and rein in these judges that are just absolutely out of control––and get the real enforcement of our laws.”

On the Committee’s priorities this Congress, Chairman Green said:

“What our focus is right now is codifying the things that President Trump has done, his executive orders that have secured the border. You know, this incredible report last month, I think it was just over 7,000 that [were apprehended] across the entire Southwest border…Of course, in reconciliation, support the Border Patrol with some increased equipment and personnel.”

“My number two is securing the cyber border. I’ve got a bill that we passed out of committee…Our biggest issue in cybersecurity is we don’t have the workforce. We have 500,000 empty vacancies in cybersecurity across the country, so we’re creating a scholarship program very similar to the ROTC scholarship program. You get your schooling paid for and then you pay the government back with X number years of work. That program, the “[Cyber] PIVOTT Act,” can really make a difference for our country, so that bill is already done.”

“We want to try to harmonize the cyber compliance in this government and get businesses and particularly [those] in our 16 critical infrastructure [sectors] back to actually doing cybersecurity.”
