FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green, MD (R-TN) released a statement Wednesday following the crash of a vehicle into a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) checkpoint in upstate New York, near Niagara Falls:
“Today’s events demonstrate that the threats to the men and women of CBP, not to mention all law enforcement personnel, are ever present and deadly serious. I am praying for all law enforcement on the ground in Niagara Falls, especially CBP officers, and for the officer who was reportedly injured in the line of duty today. I am deeply grateful for the men and women of federal, state, and local law enforcement who continue to serve and sacrifice so much for all of us.
“My staff and I are being briefed and are regularly monitoring the ongoing security risks on the ground, specifically any greater threats to our northern border. We will continue to gather information about this incident and utilize the full authority of this Committee to get to the bottom of what has taken place.”
