Rep. Mark Green Named to Coronavirus Select Committee

WASHINGTON—Today, House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy announced that Rep. Mark Green, a Member of the House Oversight Committee, has been named as one of five Republicans to serve on the Coronavirus Select Committee. Rep. Green is the only doctor appointed to serve on this Committee.

Rep. Green said, “I’m honored to have been selected to represent my colleagues and the American people on this Committee. However, Congress should be passing bills to help the American people, not creating more bureaucratic committees. With more than 33 million Americans now unemployed, eight existing oversight mechanisms, and trillions in new debt, the last thing the American taxpayer wants—or needs—is another committee to investigate the President.”

Rep. Green is a successful business leader and healthcare CEO, decorated combat veteran, and ER physician. He served on the mission to capture Saddam Hussein, and he interviewed Hussein for six hours on the night of his capture. He is a House Freedom Caucus Member and serves on the Oversight and Homeland Security Committees.
